Bob Burden is the creator of the surreal and subversively comedic “Flaming Carrot Comics”, a cult series that helped define alternative comics in the 1980s. With a writing style as bizarre as his characters, Burden’s work fuses absurdism, pulp parody, and superhero deconstruction into something entirely unique. His creation of “The Mystery Men”—later adapted into a film—further cemented his reputation as a master of unconventional narratives. Often illustrated in raw, expressionistic lines, Burden’s stories channel a Dadaist sensibility, satirizing the heroic while celebrating the weird. He remains a singular voice in independent comics.
